Abstract:

Infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria such as MRSA constitute a threat to both human health and the practice of modern medicine. Our research has focused on the rational design, synthesis, and evaluation of novel (non-fluoroquinolone) bacterial topoisomerase inhibitors (NBTIs). This presentation will compare three series of NBTIs we have discovered and describe our progress toward identifying a candidate for preclinical development.
